Before retiring as director of Lee County's Smart Growth Department in 2010, Wayne spent 27 years with the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council — 20 as executive director. He was honored by his profession with lifetime achievement awards from 3 professional organizations. Married, two children, veteran, churchgoer (on occasion), Rotarian, and voted in every election since 1970.
