Find your local number: https://zoom.us/u/acFulyj3uyNote from Wayne: I would like to propose a new agenda item for our meeting. That we move beyond doing drawdown events to inspire, educate and motivate the ranks of activists. That we pro actively connect with groups, county wide and build and/or join in a coalition to march around the county getting cities to declare a climate emergency which in turn can lead to a change in development, land use, transportation, fire restoration, housing, homelessness and energy policy, all of which though giving lip service to climate change are currently institutionally and legally structured in ways that delivers contradictory outcomes. The continued development of market rate housing and road construction are only two examples of digging the hole deeper.
Regarding agenda -- last phone meeting we decided to look into using the old seed bank building in Petaluma as a location for a Drawdown introduction in town that would be much more visible than the one at the Oasis. Connie and I went to the location today and spoke with Kate who is booking that building for Nick Papadopoulos. Nick's plan for the building is to be a community hub and as such he is very interested in collaborations with community group. Connie will try to get in touch with Nick before our meeting and Wayne will get in touch with a range of groups such as Daily Acts, Conservation Action, North Bay Organizing Project, Margie Helm and St. Vincent Church to see if a co-sponsorship can be arranged that would match Nicks desire for community collaborations and create synergy.

2 years ago PublicI was very impressed with Annie's clarity as she presented Rights of Nature in our zoom conference on the 6th. If you missed it please take a look at the recording of that call. It will inform our efforts. https://connect.pachamama.org/node/1648 . One take away for me is that "rights of nature county initiative" is a "test of Jurisdiction". Local citizens clearly have the right and obligation to protect their own communities but the legal jurisdiction for such decision making has been usurped by a corporate oligarchy at the state, federal and around the globe by international agreements largely in the service of that global oligarchy. Our right must be asserted. "Right can not be given or taken but can only be asserted or violated." Did I get this right? Was this Sal Alinsky?

2 years ago PublicThanks for getting so much up and running here, Wayne. I am happy to finally be learning my way around this space. Still feeling a little overwhelmed by what we're up to, so I believe when we all have the chance to meet later I'd like to pull out a calendar to help me visualize our various efforts through the next year. Good morning :)
