Where do you currently live?
My family and I chose to live in Freiburg im Breisgau in the southwest of Germany, close to the border of France and Switzerland. We came here because it attracts a lot of open-minded people. For decades, it has been the only big city in Germany that has been governed by a Green Party Mayor. You can sense that in the city. There is a huge scene of social creatives sharing their gifts, alternative schools, and shamans in all variations...we came here to be part of that. A lot of people grow their own food in this region and we also found a huge garden where we plant vegetables and fruits in community with friends.
What are some ways you like to spend your time?
Spending time with my children is often delightful. For example, watching my one year old daughter eating always 100% with full expression (Yes , No, Good, Wow). Sometimes I am just happy because she´s such a good clown, but recognising her deep connection and concentration is fascinating. She is so pure in her reaction to what is happening in the moment.
I like to tell my six year-old son stories while putting him to bed. Sometimes this storytelling comes right from the moment and I can be surprised where the story moves to. When it happens that something really beautiful is developing i can enjoy that a lot.
I also love to sing medicine songs, getting touched by the wisdom they contain and exploring what they can teach me about beauty and being in love. And learning to play and sing them in a way that I can pass on this message and information.
How did you first connect with Pachamama Alliance?
About 10 years ago friends of mine who were living in a community came across the Pachamama Alliance. After participating in an Awakening the Dreamer Symposium Facilitator Training in England, they organised the first one in Germany and I participated. Within weeks this community dedicated itself to this work and founded Be the Change Germany. We translated the Symposium into German, organised some Facilitator Trainings, and presented lots of Symposiums. Since then i am part of the team that holds space for this work and that translates, develops, and spreads it.
What is a memory or experience with Pachamama Alliance that stands out for you?
I don't have to go that far back. In October 2019 I led a Symposium extended over 4 days together with an experienced trainer of Movement Medicine. These combined trainings offer deep spaces of perception. We went into a dance with the ancestors and brought this together with a Vision exercise of Joana Macy and went into a sharing without words. As we shared holding space fluently, I had the opportunity to dive deep into parts of his exercise and follow my process. Suddenly i had a deep realisation of being grounded and sensed life being given to me and me passing it on. It was a life-clearing moment. First impact: It changed my daily feeling. And the second impact that I want to name is, that the memory of this moment supports me in relaxing into participating while holding space. And to trust the guidance coming from this balance.
What is something you are proud to be doing in service of an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on this planet?
Reflecting on this question i notice that pride is coming for a certain way of being in service, rather than what I am accomplishing. Some years ago, while hiking mountains I fell into a reflection regarding the service of the water. For millions of years the same water runs, permeates, evaporates and cleans, balances, feeds, wets...it's doing its task. The water passing by in the creek right now is not on a special mission in the future with an accurately defined goal. It just follows energy. I noticed that a part of me is relaxing into something similar. Being in service and active as a natural part of daily life and getting less dependent on what we usually call success. It leads to a higher rate of activity with less exhaustion and it allows me to go much more far beyond calculation in developing exercises, trainings and so on.
What is something that you would like to see change in the world in the next 10 years?
I'd love to see new values within our culture about what we call "male" or "female" in movies, theaters, advertising, and in private life that changes these images that can be full of isolation and confrontation to communication and playfulness....from belief to perception. I'd love people to dare to talk about themselves.
Is there anything else that you would like to share?
