Participate in the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium on Greenpeace's ship, the Arctic Sunrise. Hosted by SoCal350 and Pachamama Alliance, Awakening the Dreamer is a transformative educational program that explores the challenges facing humanity at this critical moment in time and the opportunities we as a human family have to create a new future.
The Arctic Sunrise ship will be docked in Rainbow Harbor, Long Beach, the Ancestral land of the Tongva Nation.
Spiritual Elders from our local, First Nations and other local Indigenous activists will join us to offer their blessings and prayers to invoke the two Awakening the Dreamer events. They will speak to the links between climate justice and preserving the legacies, wisdom and sacred territories of Indigenous peoples:
Gloria Arellanes, Tongva Nation
Julia Bogany, Tongva Nation
Adelia Sandoval, Acjachemen Nation

Sacred Headwaters Initiative
The Sacred Headwaters Project
Pachamama Alliance, Amazon Watch, and a broad coalition of key stakeholders (indigenous groups, local governments, international NGOs) are collectively working toward a common vision to protect the Sacred Headwaters of the Amazon from extractive mining and oil industries. The initiative aims to build the capacity of the indigenous people to manage this area. The indigenous communities of the region view the Sacred Headwaters Initiative as one of the best means to protect and ensure their own future and that of the world.
