Stan Slaughter is truly a national treasure, right here in the KC metro. Stan has been “all in” on the environment for his entire adult life, and his vision for the earth has directed his career as an educator, musician, publisher, performer and public figure. Following his early career as an award-winning science educator, Stan turned his knowledge of science, love of nature, and rock 'n' roll chops into becoming an Eco-troubadour, He has performed for more than 400,000 people in 27 states, teaching about composting, recycling, water, soil, and more, sharing simple changes we can all make now to live in harmony with our planet.
A score of awards has been showered on Stan--from 1995 Missouri Environmental Educator of the year, to 2000 national compost educator of the year, to receiving an invitation from HRH Prince Charles to speak on composting at the Royal Gardens at Highgrove in 2016. He was a 2018 New Thought Walden Award honoree, for empowering spiritual ideas and philosophies to change lives and make our planet a better place (along with Oprah Winfrey, Rev. Michael Beckwith, and local peace educator Kelly Isola).
Stan's strength is his passion for his message and his ability to make it accessible to lay audiences. He now works as Education and Garden Specialist for Missouri Organic Recycling.
