Spirituality & Eco-activism, Old and New Tools for our Environmental Journey

We are delighted to host Rev. Dr. Neddy Astudillo to be our next Game Changer Gathering Speaker. Rev Neddy is a Venezuelan-American, is an eco-theologian and Presbyterian pastor working as Florida’s GreenFaith Circle organizer and Director for GreenFaith Latino-America http://www.greenfaith.org.

As Eco-theologian Heather Eaton said, ‘When theology is engaged with the ecological crisis in depth, there are major shifts in the very foundation.” We are experiencing this right here in SW Florida, understanding that as people of faith, spiritual and/or religious, we see our traditions, world-views and sense of a good life shifting to respond faithfully to the environmental crisis.

What spiritual tools can sustain us?

Come ready to reflect and share your own.

Here's a little background on this amazing woman:

  • Neddy earned her Doctor of Ministry in “Greening the Church” from Drew University and co-founded the Angelic Organics Learning Center, a farm-based nonprofit organization in Northern Illinois, where people connect with food, farming and caring for the Earth.
  • She has taught eco-theology at seminaries in Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia and the US and co-author of NCCC’s God’s Earth is Sacred: An Open Letter to Church and Society in the United States.
  • In 2017, she coordinated GreenFaith’s Convergence in Rio de Janeiro with Latin American multi-faith partners, a 5-day religious- environmental training program for emerging faith leaders from 18 Latin American countries and 19 different religious and spiritual traditions.
  • Most recently Neddy participated in the launching of the Interfaith Rainforest Initiative in Colombia, Peru and Brazil.

We hope you will give yourself the gift of spirit-lifting as we continue our work of creating the more beautiful world we know is possible.

See you on March 7!
